This is only a test. Please do not adjust your sets.

I am just trying to learn how to do an LJ cut - hopefully I don't end up spamming anybody's journal in the process!

Let's find out, hmmmm?
I am really not sure what I'm doing. I hope somebody will take pity on a newbie and explain to me how I can get this 'cut' to open to another screen like I've seen in (most) other journals, particularly on links to fanfic. You know, the wide, plain white windows. Like this.

Thanks to ashmedai  below, I've got part of my answer. Muahhh. Now for the new window...

Here's a link to a little tutorial I think is a lot better than the FAQ's on LJ:

These only work if you're posting with the HTML format, not the rich text editor, though. I've always hated that and don't know the ins and outs there, but if you're using the HTML format, you might find it useful (the code for the cut link that opens to another window is found under "making links").

Thank you! That was very helpful indeed, and you're right - much better than LJ's explanation. My question about the link... I know how to make a link, what I'm wondering is...for example, when I go to bigboobedcanuck's journal, I see her journal, then if I click on a cut, I get this.

When I click on the cut in my own journal, the content opens on the same page. I am trying to figure out how to get the other page.

Lordy, that is one convoluted explanation. Sorry!
